Time For You to go to the Bahamas??
Nassau is a land of beautiful water with stunning beaches and a vibrant culture. I absolutely LOVE the Bahamas. I’ve been about a dozen times at this point and it never gets old!
This trip was with some family to celebrate someone’s 30th birthday. Talk about a great way to celebrate! Needless to say, we eagerly decided to join the festivities! Any excuse to head south to the Caribbean 😉
Where to Stay
We stayed at Atlantis in The Cove tower. It was AMAZING!!! Absolutely beautiful with a stunning view of that Insta worthy turquoise water. I enjoyed sitting on the balcony for breakfast and relaxing in bed taking in the ocean.
What to do at Atlantis
First off, the water park is dope. There are tons of slides, a rapids river, a lazy river, multiple pools, and kiddie pools! It is truly fun for all ages.
There is a good sized casino with a wide variety of table games and slot machines. You can get free drinks (alcoholic or not!) while playing in the casino. And, if you’re a gambler, enjoy not having a hand pay up to $10,000! And no taxes 🙂 There are over 700 slots and 85 table games.
There are, of course, multiple beaches at Atlantis, including one that is adults only. Each beach has comfy lounge chairs, many of which have shade attached or an umbrella nearby. It’s easy to get sun burnt so close to the sun, so remember your sunscreen! (I like mineral sunscreen and always take a hat!)
Very likely the most popular attractions at Atlantis are the marine exhibits! There are dozens of lagoons with various animals. One has what looks like hundreds of manta rays! Another has oodles of baby sea turtles! Several have different types of sharks and stingrays and all sorts of fish! There is even a dolphin exhibit, however that one is an extra charge even if you’re staying at the hotel.
The water park and marine exhibits are an extra charge if you’re not staying at the resort. If you go to check out the casino but aren’t staying, know you cannot walk down to the beach! You have to get a cab or go on a mile-ish walk down the road and then over to Cabbage beach.
What to do in the Bahamas
EAT!!
The Bahamas have immaculate seafood. The conch fritters at Cabbage Beach Bistro and Marketplace are delicious! You can even order them on the beach and a server will bring them out to you! Online it says they are an indian restaurant, however they have fish, burgers, wraps, wings, and other more American dishes with Bahaman influences.
The Poop Deck (no, that’s not a typo) is also insanely yummy. I ate WAY too much! I had grilled shrimp for my meal and the table had conch fritters and calamari for apps. SOOO good!
Baha Mar
Baha Mar is another absolutely gorgeous resort in Nassau. If you stay at Atlantis you’ll have to grab a cab for $30 to get there. However, if you are checking out Nassau from the very popular cruise port, you can walk a few blocks west on the main street to Frederick Street and take a left to hop on one of the buses. Tell the driver you’d like to go to Baha Mar. They’ll make a few other stops first, but it costs just $1.50 per person!
The biggest appeal here, if you’re not staying, is you can walk down to the beach and see a few animal exhibits along the way at no extra charge! There is a coy pond where sometimes you can put your finger curled into a U shape in the water, and the coy will come up and try to eat your finger! Don’t worry, they don’t have teeth. Additionally, there is a flamingo exhibit where the bright pink birds wander around close to the beach.
Baha Mar also has a casino! They have over 1100 slot machines and 119 tables (with 18 different games). I find this casino to be nicer as far as payouts are concerned and there is definitely more advantage play.
Scuba Dive or Snorkel
Scuba diving in the Caribbean is amazing! I went on two dives this trip and saw multiple sharks and lots of other marine life. I did certified dives with Stuart’s Cove Dive Bahamas. They also offer snorkel excursions. If you’re not certified but want to scuba, I’m sure there are options to do an exploratory dive (reach out if you need help finding one).
Swim with the Pigs
As I mentioned, I went on this trip with some extended family. While we were off breathing under water, they decided to do a ‘swim with the pigs’ excursion. There was one stop at a snorkel area. Then there was a boat ride over to an area with a bunch of sea turtles for some more swimming. And finally, there was a stop with the pigs. Including piglets!!
Beach
Cabbage beach is a great option over on Paradise Island. This is the island Atlantis is located on and is where you can grab food from Cabbage Beach Bistro. There are plenty of vendors on the beach to grab anything from a necklace, or rent a chair, to indulge in a drink prepared in a pineapple or a coconut!
A great place to bring your snorkel (I always travel with mine), read a good book, or just soak up the sun. Do remember to take a towel if you’re not staying at the resorts. I like this turkish towel because it’s lightweight, large, and dries quickly.
Flight Necessities
I use this backpack every flight! It’s the exact dimensions of most airlines’ personal item restrictions. It’s definitely big enough for a few day trip!
For my tech, I love this little pouch. It keeps everything organized and easy to grab.
A good neck pillow goes a long way. I like this one because it scrunches up into a little travel bag so it doesn’t take up much space!
And my last flight necessity is this pill case. I can pack a few allergy meds, pain meds, prescriptions, etc without taking the whole bottle or risking baggies opening in my luggage.

Wow thank you so much for sharing! I’ve only been through the Bahamas during a cruise but never an extended stay! Your post has definitely inspired me to look into a trip to Atlantis for me and mine in 2025. My biggest concern with water parks and amusement parks is being so rotund that often times I do not fit the attractions sadly. I love the information on gambling as I now know to save up some extra play money, something I had not considered before. Hopefully the Mrs and I have just as much fun, we will be sure to follow your travel tips!!!
Looking forward to your next adventure!
