Manifesting Your Dreams with Vision Boards in 2025
Think about your week so far. How many times did you have a thought that started with “I wish…”? Or how many times did you tell a friend “I want…”? Five times? Ten times? Too many to count?
I find myself frequently wishing and wanting. Now, that’s not to say I’m not thankful for what I have. Each day I write down three things that I’m thankful for because I believe that practice helps keep us grounded in positivity. But that’s another post!
The Power of Wishing and Wanting
Wanting and wishing for things in your life is necessary to encourage you to go after your dreams and continue to become a better, more well-rounded individual. But how do we get from where we are to our dreams? How do we turn our current life into the one we’ve always wanted to live?
Introducing: The Vision Board
For 2025 (and every year after), we’re going to use one of my favorite tools: The Vision Board.
What is a Vision Board?
Just about everybody has heard of a vision board, but just in case you haven’t, a vision board is a collection of images, words, and even items that represent how you want your life to look and feel. Feelings are particularly important. When you look at your incredible creation, you want to feel how you will feel in this ‘best life.’
Your vision board can be virtual or physical, but either way, you want to look at it regularly. Maybe it’s a bulletin board above your desk or the background on your phone. But you have to see it regularly!
Why Use a Vision Board?
Great question! When you see your board and all the things that represent the life you want, you’ll automatically do a visualization exercise. Basically, you’ll imagine your life as the board represents it.
Say you want to own a flower shop. You might put pictures of a cute cupcake shop that always makes you smile when you go inside because that’s how you want your customers to feel in your shop. You have your favorite flowers on there to remind you of your goal. Every time you look at the board, you’ll imagine yourself in your shop that makes everybody smile when they walk in, with beautiful arrangements all over!
Visualizing what we want helps make it happen. This is where the Law of Attraction comes in. What we think and believe will happen does. It’s like a self-fulfilling prophecy. When we think and believe we will get something, we nearly subconsciously decide to take the necessary steps to get there.
So, the more we think we will get our flower shop and visualize ourselves with it – walking in every morning, smelling the flowers, placing bouquets – the more we believe in our imagined future, the more we will make it come true.
Creating Your Vision Board
To make a vision board is simple!
- Imagine Your Best Life Sit down and close your eyes. Imagine your best life. What does it look like? Smell like? What are you doing? Where are you? How do you feel?
The more you dive into your senses, the more realistic your visualization is, meaning you’re that much closer to your dream life!
For example, I love blogging and traveling! When I think of my life, I can see waves gently rolling up a beach. I smell the salt and feel the breeze. I’m sitting under a palm tree with my laptop writing a post for you. I feel relaxed, happy, and physically strong. I’m excited to be working on something I’m so passionate about. - Set Goals What goals will get you from where you are now to that imaginary life?
Some goals that come up for me are to become a full-time blogger, travel to, or maybe move to, the beach (my happy place!), and feel strong through exercise. Obviously, these goals are going to take multiple steps and won’t come easily, but we’re shooting for our dream lives here! - Find Images and Words Now you need to find images and words that represent your goals and the life you want. Go online and print out pictures, cut them out from magazines, paint them! Whatever speaks to you.
I have a pretty picture of a laptop on a desk and a woman running on the beach. When I see it, I think of myself in her shoes (hehehe).
Virtual vs. Physical Vision Boards
You can have a virtual or a physical board. Let’s talk about both!
Virtual Vision Boards
I like to make my vision board online using Canva because then I have access to it anywhere. Whenever I’m feeling drained or disheartened, I pull up my board! Plus, it’s amazing how easily you can make a beautiful board!
I found pictures that represent what I want (and match ‘Haven & Horizons’ colors and fonts) online and put them together in a very organized and geometric way.
(Side note – if you sign up for Canva with this link and make your first design, you’ll get free Canva Credit to “purchase” images or fonts!)
Physical Vision Boards
I have a friend who only does her vision board in a physical version. She cuts out pictures and sayings or quotes from magazines and collages them together. Her board is always round because life is constantly moving forward and a circle rolls with you. A square or a rectangle can’t roll.
You can put your quotes and photos together however you want though! All different colors? Overlapping and crossing? Triangle, circle, or rectangle? All totally fine! It’s YOURS! The point of the board is to show what you want and remind you of that life daily.
The Final Step: Taking Action
As you move through the year, look at your board often. Imagine the life you want and take the necessary steps to get there! If you put running a marathon on your board but never go for a jog, it’s not going to happen.
Now is the time to look at your Dream Life and identify what you need to do to get there. Stop holding back because you’re scared or unsure. Live every day with gumption for that dream of yours!
As my mother used to say, “the hardest part of running is putting your shoes on.” Making the decision to start, today!
Additional Tips for Vision Board Success in 2025
Stay Organized
Organization is key to success. A cluttered space is a cluttered mind, and a clear mind can solve most problems. Keep your vision board area tidy and make sure it’s in a place where you’ll see it daily.
Use Motivational Quotes
Incorporate motivational quotes that inspire you to take action. Phrases like “Believe in yourself,” “Dream big,” and “Take the leap” can be powerful reminders of your potential and goals.
Update Regularly
Your vision board is a living document. As you achieve goals or as your dreams evolve, update your board. Replace old images with new ones that better represent your current aspirations.
Share Your Progress
Share your vision board and progress with friends or on social media. This can provide additional motivation and accountability. Plus, you might inspire others to create their own vision boards!
Reflect and Reassess
Take time periodically to reflect on your vision board. Are you making progress? Do you need to adjust your goals? Reassessing your vision board ensures it remains relevant and aligned with your dreams.
Stay Positive and Persistent
Remember, achieving your dream life takes time and effort. Stay positive, even when faced with setbacks. Persistence is key. Keep believing in your vision and take steps, no matter how small, towards your goals every day.
Vision boards are a powerful tool for turning your wishes and wants into reality. By visualizing your goals and regularly reminding yourself of your dream life, you can harness the power of the Law of Attraction and make your dreams come true.
